Pinpointing the location of damaged or blocked pipes and drains

When jet rodding or an electric eel have been unable to clear a blocked drain or pipe, this is an indication that there can be something even more serious going on underground. If the pipe is not full of water, a CCTV drain camera will be used to ascertain what is causing the blockage. Common causes are:

tree roots have pushed their way into the pipe

misaligned pipes (either from poor installation or ground movement)
-
a foreign object that is not going to budge e.g. a rock
-
the incorrect disposal of building materials e.g. concrete or tiler's grout being rinsed off equipment into the drain
An aboveground pipe locator can then be used to pinpoint the location of the blockage whilst the ground is still intact. For the pipe locator to work, the CCTV drain camera remains in place (underground) at the blockage. The pipe locator receives a signal through the ground which is transmitted from the camera. This then enables us to accurately mark out where the blocked drain issue is, meaning minimal disturbance to your property, garden and wallet.
